Refer to rule: 2.2 An employee charged with a rule or policy violation is eligible for a waiver of an investigative hearing and must be allowed the opportunity to discuss whether to waive or proceed with an investigative hearing with his/her designated Union Representative.

In February 2025, Representative Emilia Sykes introduced H.R. 971: RAIL Act to prevent derailments, improve inspections, and strengthen hazardous material transport regulations.
- No time limits on critical rail safety inspections
- Mandatory hotbox detectors every 10 miles on Class I railroads
- Increased penalties for safety violations
- New safety rules for crew sizes and hazardous shipments
Backed by IBEW and IAM, the RAIL Act prioritizes rail worker and public safety.
